Realignment For 2013-14

For the 2013-14 season there were two conferences and four divisions, though four conferences had been proposed earlier. The Eastern Conference was made up of eight teams each in two different divisions (16 teams in all), and the slightly smaller Western Conference was to have two divisions of seven teams each. The playoffs were also changed for this season, with two wild cards from both conferences joining the top three in the four divisions to make up 16 teams in total.

Lemieux var en stor mann med sine nesten to meter i strømpelesten, og dermed var han nesten ustoppelig på banen. På lik linje med Gretzky og Crosby regnes Lemieux til å være blant de aller beste ishockeyspillerne gjennom tidene, og alle tre legendene er med på Canadas Walk of Fame.

Sidney Crosby

Snakker vi kanadiske ishockeylegender og store NHL-ikoner, er også Crosby et de største navnene man komme på. Sidney Crosby spilte mesteparten av sin NHL-karriere i Pittsburgh Penguins, sammen med landslagkameraten Lemieux, der han dessverre måtte forbli i skyggen av den andre kanadiske legenden. Når landslaget samlet seg, var dog Crosby helt uerstattelig. Hans fantastiske teknikk og skyhøye fart gjorde ham umulig å fange for motstanderne. Han ledet Canada til OL-seier mot Sverige og fortjente virkelig sin plass som kaptein.

Wayne Gretzky is probably the greatest Canadian NHL icon of all-time. Known as ‘The Great One’, from 1979 to 1999 Gretzky was a centre for the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, St. Louis Blues and New York Rangers. While, in his glittering career, Gretzky was named most valuable player in the NHL on no less than nine occasions, and he was the leading points scorer in ten different seasons. Gretzky remains the NHL’s leading scorer, and the only man to achieve the landmark of 200 points in a single season.

Bobby Orr

Bobby Orr was a defenceman in the NHL for the Boston Bruins and the Chicago Black Hawks, and his NHL career lasted from 1966 to 1978. Orr created history in the 1969-70 season, by becoming the first defenceman ever to be the leading points scorer in a NHL season. That feat still remains unique today. In his career, Orr also won the Hart Memorial Trophy for most valuable player.

Maurice Richard

A star for the Montreal Canadiens Maurice Richard was one of the NHL’s great goal scorers between 1942 and 1960. Called the Rocket, Richard amassed a then record 544 goals in an NHL career.
